Certideal startup dedicada a la venta de dispositivos tecnológicos reacondicionados y de segunda mano, llega a España. La compañía, de origen francés, busca dar una segunda vida a los teléfonos inteligentes y tabletas con el objetivo de luchar contra el impacto ecológico que genera esta basura tecnológica en el medio ambiente y concienciar sobre un consumo sostenible.

Laure Cohen, co fundadora de Certideal, explica que “en España un 96% de ciudadanos tiene un teléfono móvil y de ellos, un 87% son smartphones, según el informe ‘Digital 2018’ de Hootsuite. Así, la alta penetración de estos dispositivos en la sociedad debe llevarnos a valorar la importancia que tiene adoptar hábitos de compra más ecológicos como la adquisición de dispositivos reacondicionados para reducir nuestro impacto en el medio ambiente”.

Desde 2015, la startup ha vendido a través de su plataforma más de 150.000 terminales, lo que ha evitado la emisión de gases contaminantes y el ahorro de miles de litros de agua que se habrían gastado en la producción de nuevos aparatos.

A través de Certideal los clientes pueden comprar dispositivos de alta gama de segunda mano con la garantía de que están en perfecto estado ya que, todos los aparatos, son revisados y, en caso de necesitarlo, la compañía los reacondiciona antes de su envío. “Tras recibir un pedido, nuestros especialistas revisan 30 puntos de control técnico y aportamos un certificado de conformidad sobre el artículo vendido. De esta manera, nuestros clientes pueden estar seguros de que el teléfono inteligente o la tableta que han adquirido están en perfectas condiciones”, detalla Cohen.

Además, aparte de las ventajas que tiene la compra de este tipo de productos para el medio ambiente también existe una ventaja económica ya que el precio de los dispositivos reacondicionados es mucho menor, “lo que permite adquirir aparatos de última generación a precios reducidos y, además, con garantía de 15 meses, desde la recepción del producto”, señalan desde la compañía.

A través de la plataforma, y con solo unos pocos clics, se puede tanto comprar como vender dispositivos y los pagos se realizan siempre por pasarelas seguras, lo que permite evitar posibles estafas.

En estos tres años, Certideal se ha convertido en líder del mercado de móviles reacondicionados y de segunda mano en Francia gracias al control técnico que ofrece en todos sus productos, su garantía y la relación que tiene con sus clientes ya que todos los dispositivos se compran o se venden directamente a la empresa.

Durante el pasado año, la compañía obtuvo ventas por valor de 10 millones de euros, atendió a casi 50.000 clientes y creció un 130%. Para este 2018, Certideal prevé alcanzar una facturación de 30 millones de euros.

This AsReader CAMERA Type product is a software-based barcode scanner for both Apple iOS and Android OS that achieves professional reading performance, comparable to that of dedicated barcode readers.

Released in Summer of 2018, this laser-pointer/aimer attachment allows the user to aim and scan barcodes without looking at the smartphone’s screen, allowing a barcode scanning experience similar to that of using a dedicated terminal with super high-speed scans.

Development Background:
Smartphones and tablets have become remarkably sophisticated in recent years. The built-in cameras in smart-devices have developed to the point that some people speculate compact digital cameras may disappear.

Despite physical advancements in higher-resolution (CMOS) sensor performance and the F-stop values of lenses, barcode decoding/analysis software did not evolve at the same rate.

As a result, sites that attempted to use smartphone cameras for barcode scanning were terribly disappointed, stating, “I thought that the smartphone’s built-in camera could be used for barcode scanning, but it was useless – it’s far too slow and the reading performance was awful!”

Asterisk therefore set out to meet these needs, relying on its years of know-how from manufacturing automatic recognition equipment.  The release of this product is a culmination of more than two years of research and development to deliver an ultra-high-speed, high-quality product.  Until now, there were two main weaknesses in using a smartphone’s built-in camera for reading barcodes:

1. The slow-speed that images from the smartphone’s built-in camera were processed.
2. The need to look at the smartphone’s screen while scanning barcodes.

1) Ultra-high-speed reading

• Existing barcode applications take too long for scans and are difficult to use.

2) Laser-pointer for aiming

• An advantage of the old-fashioned, dedicated barcode readers is that they allowed the user to look at the actual barcode for scanning, not a screen.
• In order to solve these issues, Asterisk developed better software and a laser-pointer/aimer module attachment, for targeting barcodes.

Lucas Systems, Inc., the leading provider of solutions for intelligent mobile work execution for warehouses and distribution centers, has announced new certified smartphones, tablets and accessories for use with Lucas Move mobile applications, which now support RFID and NFC (near field communications) in addition to barcode scanning and voice.
