New to version 3.1, the high-density ICPAM Data Center Cabinet Solution utilizes an end-of-row reader to significantly reduce cost per rack, cutting the cost of cabinet access control by up to half. The new solution allows organizations facing regulatory regulations in the United States and European Union — including ECHR, HIPAA, FCRA, and ECPA — an audit trail of whom had access to which equipment containing sensitive data.

ICPAM 3.1 also brings Input Module support for the ICPAM EM-100 PoE edge controller and integration with the new PoE edge Hirsch Mx-1 Controller, bringing full-featured Hirsch access control to the edge, managing a single door, and plugging directly into enterprise environments. Pushing access control to the edge means lower cost, less maintenance, less burden on the network, and more time to focus on the important data being processed and areas being protected. The compromises required by other edge controllers with fewer features, lower power, and less security are eliminated with Mx-1, which brings the complete feature set, security, and scalability of Hirsch’s Mx line to single-door installations.

Identiv, Inc. today announced the next version of the company’s uTrust TS Cards, high-security, high-frequency smart credentials to upgrade physical access control. The latest version features a MIFARE DESFire EV2 secure chip from Identiv’s technology partner NXP Semiconductors. uTrust TS Cards complement Identiv’s existing credential portfolio by offering the most secure high-frequency 13.56 MHz smart cards for physical access control.

Identiv’s uTrust TS Card delivers high-assurance identity security and access card authenticity to both newly deployed and existing physical access control systems (PACS). The newest version of uTrust TS Cards utilizes MIFARE DESFire EV2 4KB chips to provide a comprehensive platform, with an expanded amount of memory, that can now support multi-applications and data. Identiv Partners with DNP to Provide UHF RFID Tags for Infrastructure-Monitoring Systems That Detect Cracks in Bridges

Identiv, Inc. has announced that the company’s ultra high-frequency (UHF) radio frequency identification (RFID) tags have been incorporated into a new system that monitors critical infrastructure and detects cracks in bridges and tunnels. The tag was developed for Identiv partner Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd (DNP), a comprehensive printing company based out of Japan, established in 1876, and focused on connecting individuals and society to enrich everyday life.

Identiv’s UHF Tag portfolio is built around a comprehensive set of optimized designs for applications across industrial markets including asset tracking, logistics and parking access. UHF technology uses radio frequency spectra which allow reading distances of several meters (equivalent to several dozen feet), depending on the size of the tags and the operating power transmitted by the UHF reader.

“In Japan, the majority of tunnels and bridges were built during the high economic growth period of the 1960s, meaning they are quickly becoming too old for continued use. We are seeing an increase in accidents due to decrepit concrete, which is a huge, dangerous problem,” said Sakae Hikita, DNP Senior Executive Corporate Officer. “Local government and transportation entities are under regulation to maintain inspections, however, the cost of such inspections is incredibly high due to complex testing equipment and the skill of the laborers performing such testing.”

In direct response to this growing issue, DNP partnered with Identiv and developed an infrastructure-monitoring RFID inlay that can detect structural cracks, leveraging a powerful UHF chip equipped with tamper detection capability. This long reading distance inlay is glued to areas of concern on a concrete structure (i.e., areas suspected to be cracked or that may be extended in the near future). The inlays receive radio waves and the system can monitor the condition to avert disasters before they occur. DNP has developed the unique adhesive for the sheets that are attached to the concrete, which cures the agent via irradiation with ultraviolet rays (i.e., sunlight) or fluorescent light.

Unlike traditional, cumbersome testing techniques, the new monitoring system can read all of the information collected by the inlay sheets at once via a UHF reader/writer, dramatically reducing inspection time, and the UHF range of Identiv’s tags allows for long communication distance. Small cracks are difficult to detect through visual inspection alone, and with Identiv’s technology, inspectors without special skills can make an accurate assessment, saving time and money, and potentially saving lives. The data collected is then transferred to local PCs for a full inspection report.

Identiv, Inc. has announced that the company’s award-winning Hirsch government Federal Identity, Credential, and Access Management (FICAM) solution is now included on the U.S. government’s FICAM Approved Products List (APL) and is available for immediate deployment. The General Services Administration (GSA) lab, which is part of the FICAM Testing Program, has evaluated and approved Identiv’s end-to-end FICAM solution.

Named the “Best Integrated System for HSPD-12 and FIPS 201 Compliance” by American Security Today and “Best Physical Logical Privileged Access Management Solution” and “Best Access Control Hardware” by Government Security News, Identiv’s FICAM solution is faster and less expensive than other options on the market. It provides customers a low-cost, simple-to-deploy, secure solution for FICAM compliance and high-security building access. The time required to upgrade existing Hirsch Velocity physical access control systems (PACS) is significantly less than competitor’s solutions, allowing federal agencies to meet rapidly approaching compliance deadlines. For new customers, the Hirsch Mx Controller includes SNIB3 and needs only the addition of the RREB to connect to Identiv’s FICAM-compliant readers. Identiv’s uTrust TS FICAM Readers are the industry’s most flexible and highly secure intelligent door reader endpoint which enable agencies to deploy highly secure U.S. government card authentication key (CAK) validation at a fraction of the cost of competing solutions. uTrust TS FICAM Readers are available in wall mount, mullion, keypad, and ScramblePad form factors.
